Sara Jane and Will are high school sweethearts that people instantly fall in love with. With Sara Jane's bubbly, I am going to shoot for the stars attitude and Will's laid back attitude, its hard not to. I am so lucky to have known Sara Jane from the first time she came on a recruiting trip at the college I attended. She was one year behind me and school and from the first time I met her, we instantly bonded. It wasn't long after her recruiting trip that she decided to enroll and we would be classmates, teammates and long down the road, workmates :) The first time I heard about Will was during field hockey pre-season. They had already been dating for quite some time, but Sara still gushed about him as though she was some high school freshman that was asked out by the senior high school hottie. Yes... I just said hottie on my blog. From that moment, I knew that Sara Jane and Will had something special. When I first met Will it was hard not to notice his good looks, but more noticeably was how he looked at Sara Jane like she was the only gal in the room. Them and their relationship... perfection.

Fast forward 6 1/2 years, Sara Jane and Will had been living in their adorable West Village apartment for quite some time and Sara Jane working at the same bank that I did. This was also around the same time that I started my photography business. It was an unusually warm winter evening and I was at home catching up on some work. I must have had my phone on silent, because I looked at my phone and had a missed call from Sara Jane. As soon as I saw that missed call, I knew. I knew that she was probably jumping up and down with the biggest smile on her face because her best friend asked her to marry him. Of course, I called back instantly and the excitement on both ends of the phone flooded through. It was finally the day, Sara Jane and her high school sweetheart were engaged. Before I even got to ask her all about the proposal, she said... "And I want you to be our photographer". I literally died and went to heaven at that moment. I was in the beginning stages of my photography business and my friend wanted ME to be their wedding photographer!!!

When it came time to start talking about Sara Jane and Will's engagement session, I knew that Sara Jane would want to put her crafty self into high gear. In one of our many conversations about their engagement session, a July 4th themed engagement session was brought up. It has been one of the holidays that Sara Jane and Will have been able to spend together, especially during their 4 years going to school in separate states. Sara Jane  and Will left no detail behind and every detail had a personal touch. They picked out fabric at a local shop, baked their own cupcakes, borrowed some beautiful pots from Sara Jane's parents, picked up flowers from the corner bodega, added Sara Jane's signature bow to a few of the pieces and decided on locations that were meaningful to them. Even after hearing all these ideas, my jaw dropped when I saw everything pulled together. It was like a little July 4th party tucked away on a west village pier a month before the real July 4th.

I can't thank Sara Jane and Will enough for being such great friends and choosing me as their wedding photographer. I love you two!

I also want to thank Brittany of Brittany Lauren Photography for her help and company during Sara Jane and Will's engagement session. You rock my world!

Happy Fourth of July! Thanks to the men and women who have served or are serving our country today for our freedom!
